Sofas
Layout
The necessary amount of space depends on the type of sofa and layout.
I layout (for a sofa seating 2 or 3)

Set the sofa and TV face-to-face, with a coffee table in between.
255~285cm is necessary between the sofa-back and the opposite wall.
As for reclining sofas, which are popular for use with home-theater systems, more than 300cm between the sofa back and the opposite wall is necessary, in light of the need for foot space.
Face-to-face layout

Set two sofas face-to-face (a sofa seating 2.5 to 3, and two sofas seating 1 or a sofa seating 2).
Suitable for places such as drawing rooms, because of the formal atmosphere.
220~250cm is necessary between the backs of two sofas set face to face.
L layout, Round layout

Set two sofas in an L shape (a sofa seating 2, and a sofa seating 2.5 to 3)
With this layout you can use the wall effectively and produce a private space.
Because one’s eye is drawn to the left and right, one has the impression that the room is wider than it actually is.
A space of at least 255×200cm is necessary for setting up a sofa.
Sofa Materials
Surface material and spring are important factors for a comfortable sofa. Different materials differ in comfort and care.
Materials of coated cloth
Natural leather (leather)

Comfortable against the skin and rich in flexibility, durability, moisture absorbency, and ventilation
Resistant to quality deterioration from temperature fluctuations; highly cold-resistant
Since this is a natural material, lack of proper maintenance can lead to hardening and deterioration of the leather. If leather is properly cared for, you can enjoy the original texture for a long time.
Artificial leather

Principally, artificial leather refers to polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyurethane (PU), and soft artificial leather.
Resistant to water and stains; less expensive than natural leather.
As for soft artificial leather, it’s close to natural leather in flexibility and durability, but less durable and heat-resistant.
Cloth

Flat-woven, Jacquard, Moquette and Microfiber
Easy to coordinate because of its warm atmosphere
Sofa Springs
S-springs

This is the most common type of sofa spring. The sigmoid-wave-like springs run parallel and are arched.
Interlacing straps

Elastic belts are interlaced.
More cushioning than S-springs, but slightly more expensive
Coil springs

Cylindrical coil springs, superior in bounce and durability
Almost every high-grade sofa has coil springs.
Wood springs

Curved wood is used for spring and it has soft cusion and high elasticity.
Also this spring is used for beds
Care for each surface material
Natural leather (leather)

Needs to be maintained with a special cleaner
When the oils in natural leather dry, the leather can harden and crack. Special care is necessary every 4~5 months.
Artificial leather

Easily maintained with a damp cloth
To remove surface stains, a mild detergent is effective.
Cloth

A vacuum cleaner or soft brush is effective for removing dust and stains.
For stubborn stains, soak the cloth in mild diluted detergent, wring the cloth gently, and use the cloth to dab out the stain.
Next, wipe detergent on a cloth that’s been wrung out
Removable surface materials can be laundered in a household washing machine.
Sofas with special functions
We offer various sofas with special functions for comfortable living.
Here are two typical sofas with moving parts.
Reclining Sofa
There are two reclining mechanisms; electric and manual. For the electric reclining mechanism, you can make fine adjustments to change the reclining angle by remote control.
For manual reclining, the back can be reclined by gently pulling a lever that is on the outside of the armrest. This also extends the footrest.
To return the sofa to its pre-reclining position, simply push down on the footrest.

Reclining the sofa

Sofa-bed
Dual-purpose sofa: a sofa in daytime, a bed at night
These come in two types. In one, the sofa back or armrests fold down. In the other, the seat pulls out.
Sofa-bed whose back or armrests fold down

Tilting the backrest forward releases the locking mechanism, and then you can tilt the backrest back to the horizontal position.
We have other types of sofa-beds: one in which the sofa-back slides and becomes flat when the front edge of the seat is lifted, and one in which the armrests fold outward to make enough space for a person to lie down.
Sofa-beds take up about as much space in bed mode as they do in sofa mode. But most sofa beds sit up to 2.5 to 3 persons. Few sit only one person.
Sofa-bed whose seat pulls out

The seat is folded in halves or thirds.
Pull out the rear part of the seat. This converts the sofa into a bed.
To return it to the sofa configuration, fold away the mattress.
In bed mode it required plenty of space, but as a sofa it’s very compact.
Some sofa-beds have a built-in mattress.
