Coordinate the color scheme of each room

Carefully select pictures or posters to suit your room. The colors can greatly influence the atmosphere of a room, so be sure to coordinate them with those of your curtains, rugs and furniture. Hanging pictures and posters with colors that blend with a room or that accentuate its colors can balance and harmonize every corner of a room.

The key to successfully displaying pictures and posters

Be careful to hang each picture or poster such that its center is slightly below eye level.
At entranceways and corridors, people will look at your pictures and posters while standing in or walking through these spaces. But in your living or dining room, they’ll view them sitting down. You should hang each work at a level suited to these different eye levels and viewing positions.
To make sure they appear balanced to viewers when hung close to a sofa or a lowboard stand for video and audio gear, the centers of pictures and posters should be aligned with the center of each piece of furniture.

A second key to successfully displaying pictures and posters

Display them such that they complement the good points of the room.
Hanging a largish picture at the center of a relatively large wall of your living room or bedroom will give a powerful impression to the entire room.

Hang pictures or posters symmetrically. It is important to hang them such that the lower edges are flush. If you do this, they will appear neatly organized.

The edge of each picture or poster should be simple and sharp. Its frame determines the impression of the viewers. It is ideal to match the color and design of the frame with your room’s atmosphere.
